EPEX Day-Ahead Market: Switch to 15-minute trading intervals

Good news!

The EPEX Spot switched from hourly prices to 15-minute prices on September 30, 2025. This change helps to better reflect volatile feed-in, increase market efficiency, and reduce balancing costs.

The good news

SmartDog had integrated the new function in time.

Immediately after the changeover, the new 15-minute prices were available on all affected SmartDogs.

These 15-minute Day-Ahead values are also displayed to customers in the SmartDog app.

Use in SmartDog

Of course, these values are also used for:

forecasts
EMS control functions
curtailment functions in the event of negative electricity prices
