KUWO circuit breaker control commissioned and approved by Netz Niederösterreich

Our partner Sawotec has implemented a 1.4 MWp PV system for the company Lisec in Austria.
As the PV systems on the company premises are distributed across four halls, wiring the grid protection system to the circuit breakers was hardly feasible. For this reason, our KUWO system was used.
One SmartDog Master and three SmartDog Slaves take over the important function of grid protection.
System setup
The Master is located in the transfer station and communicates with the grid operator and the grid protection system.
The three Slaves are located in the halls and each communicate with the Sofar inverters via RS485 and with the respective circuit breaker.
Fast and reliable protection
In the event of a grid protection trip, the circuit breakers of the Slaves are activated immediately.
At the same time, the position feedback signals of the circuit breakers are reported to the grid protection system and the telecontrol technology.
The entire process takes place within milliseconds, and the required response times of TOR-Erzeuger are met without any problems.
Fail-safe communication
If communication with a Slave fails, the corresponding circuit breaker trips within the specified time.
FRT capability verified
The required FRT capability of the Master-Slave system was also tested and successfully verified.
