    • Excess charging wallbox

      With our intelligent 1- and 3-phase switching, you can utilize surplus energy from 1.35 kW to 11/22 kW.

      Without this feature, three-phase charging is only possible from 4 kW upwards. During the transitional seasons and in winter, most private solar systems often don't reach this 4 kW.

      Someone who commutes 100 km daily with a VW ID.4 equipped with a 77 kWh battery could easily manage with a daily 3 kWh charge without grid connection. This is possible in most cases with our technology, even after work in the summer.

      Using the app, you can easily configure whether you want to charge your car with pure surplus energy or prioritize charging a certain amount of energy up to a specific time using solar surplus. The remaining energy is then charged as late as possible or during off-peak hours. You can also select charging at maximum power or deactivate charging altogether.

      The maximum power draw is monitored by SmartDog, and the charging rate is reduced if necessary to protect the fuse.

       

    • Heat pump

      With a heat pump, it's possible to store excess PV energy in the building, a buffer tank, or a hot water boiler. SmartDog offers options for storing large amounts of energy virtually free of charge and without wear and tear, using forecasts. This means the heating system doesn't need to switch on in the evening, or ideally, not at all.

      Thanks to the inertia of underfloor heating or the size of the buffer tank, you can shift energy use into the evening!

      Heat pumps can be integrated in various ways. Commonly, one or two SG-ready signals are used to increase the setpoints of the heat pump for space heating or hot water preparation.

      Some heat pumps can be controlled bidirectionally via a network.

      In this case, values can usually be read and visualized to make optimizations (electrical and thermal output, buffer tank and outdoor temperatures, flow and return temperatures, etc.).

       

    • Free prioritization, charging rules, excess charging

      Let's say you want to heat your water first, then charge your electric car, and finally fully charge your energy storage system. 

      With SmartDog®, this is easily possible. You can change the order as you like. SmartDog® also recognizes whether the generated power is sufficient for only one control system or whether it can potentially control several systems simultaneously.

       

    • Consideration of weather, consumption and electricity price forecasts

      Maximize your profitability by utilizing dynamic electricity pricing. SmartDog® makes the optimal decisions to utilize your components as efficiently as possible.

      With dynamic electricity pricing, forecasting consumption, PV generation, and electricity prices is crucial.

      Especially during periods of low wind and solar output (no wind and little sun), electricity prices can spike for 1-3 hours. Our Energy Management System (EMS) analyzes consumption using AI and ensures that the battery storage has sufficient energy for these periods.

      Charging occurs either during off-peak hours or, with a favorable PV forecast, when there is a surplus.

      All dynamic electricity pricing providers only display the net electricity price. However, the crucial factor for a forecast is the gross price (including grid fees, basic charges, and taxes) that the customer actually pays.

      Therefore, you can calculate the gross price with us using a built-in formula.

      The gross price history can be accessed via the app and is used to inform control decisions.

      The customer can set different modes for their devices in the app to make optimal use of dynamic electricity prices.
