Trading with large-scale battery storage

Successful commissioning of a large-scale battery storage system with 1 MW output and 2.5 MWh capacity in Upper Austria
In a customer project, ecodata solutions GmbH has reached another important milestone in the field of intelligent energy systems.
A powerful large-scale battery storage system with 1 MW feed-in capacity and a storage capacity of 2.5 MWh was successfully installed and commissioned.
The battery system is controlled by our SmartDog park controller, which ensures precise, secure, and flexible control of the energy flows. This enables optimal use of the storage system — both for self-consumption optimization and for marketing on the energy market.
The generated and stored electricity is professionally traded on the power exchange by the direct marketer Ökostrom AG, contributing both to economic efficiency and grid stability.
SmartDog park controller and EMS
In this project, the SmartDog park controller and EMS take over key functions:
- control of the battery according to self-consumption and economic factors such as electricity price and the direct marketer’s schedule
- communication via telecontrol technology with the grid operator Netz OÖ in order to stabilize the grid during grid fluctuations by controlling PV and battery systems
- clear visualization of all parameters for the customer and the installer
System details
In detail, the project consists of a 930 kWp PV system with Fronius inverters and 10 Huawei Luna 2000 battery storage units.
With this project, we once again underline our commitment to combining modern energy systems with innovative control technology — and to making an active contribution to the energy transition.
Numerous additional battery projects from well-known manufacturers are currently being implemented. Some of these projects include outputs of more than 5 MW, spot market trading in Germany and Austria, as well as integrated telecontrol technology.
